Child Safety Education

Many people think that child safety does not need to be worked on or something that can be done in just a matter of clicks. Child safety is every parent’s and guardian’s responsibility. It is a responsibility that demands as much attention and commitment as possible. And it is for this reason specifically that the concept of child safety planning is considered.

It is September once again and it is the time to celebrate and spruce up the campaign towards informing everybody about child passenger safety. That is why September is actually referred to as the National Child Passenger Safety Month. This month-long campaign is actually a program that is sponsored by the National Automobile Dealers Association, or NADA. It has been developed and cultivated with the NHTSA which is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is an arm of the government.

There seems to be a general misconception concerning child safety and child identification. In speaking with parents, one thing becomes very clear. Parents commonly believe, that by recording their children’s fingerprints and DNA information, they have taken all the steps necessary in order to protect as well as provide identification for their children.

Thirty five years ago I was seven years old, and the 1970’s were approaching. This meant meant I was an unsuspecting subject for my mother’s zany sewing experiments. Floral flairs with pompom fringing. Hmmm. Back then I walked the three mile round trip to school each day, ambling along like I had all the time in the world, blatantly picking flowers out of people’s front gardens to give to my teacher so she wouldn’t mention I was late. I vaguely recall the occassional ’stranger danger’ message, but without actual case studies child abduction formed no more a part of parenting conversations back then as did the appropriate age for teenagers to get body piercings.

As you may know, children are born with the desire to discover and explore something new and old, but with lack of understanding of how everything in the planet works, these little explorers have their own creepy way of putting themselves in harm’s way without them realizing it. It is for this reason actually that retractable child safety gates are designed and distributed throughout the market nowadays.

The children are every nation’s most prized possession. The realization of the countries’ deepest hopes and greatest dreams lie on them. It is a common fact that children need education to help them be productive citizens of the future. Several advancements in technology come hand in hand with education. One of which is the new source of knowledge - the information highway.
